In the wake of the European 'Single Use Plastics' (SUP) directive on single-use packaging, the Brussels-Capital Region and Brussels Environment have decided to go further in packaging prevention, notably by adopting the new Brudalex regulations and launching the new 'Packaging Facilitator' service to help all public entities and professionals, free of charge, to set up sustainable packaging systems.
A Packaging Facilitator: for whom?
Professionals, schools, local authorities, businesses, non-profit organisations, etc. The facilitator answers the questions of any organisation or professional wishing to avoid single-use packaging (food or other)!
In practical terms, what services are offered?
A helpdesk : to answer the most common questions and guide you in setting up sustainable packaging systems, covering aspects such as :
- Reusable crockery services
- Deposit systems
- Suppliers of reusable packaging
- Costs, procedures and logistics
- Practical organisation of events
- Best practices, contacts and tools
Customised support: If, after contacting the helpdesk, customised support is required, the facilitator offers the possibility of analysing the organisation's packaging management in order to make recommendations and look for alternatives as close as possible to the needs.
